Last month, my store entered a DC comics window display contest. My boss approached me because of my animation background to do it and I accepted. I was really, really nervous about it though. I'm always really nervous to show my artwork to people.

So after 60 hours of sketching, lugging 8 foot pieces of foam-core around, and painting. All over a five day period(1 day of sketching in February and 4 consecutive days of painting), it all payed off.

I got second place! I'm so glad I did it, and they liked it. They actually emailed my boss, and said they really liked it!

I've been in an artistic slump for about four years now, I failed animation school. I had a bad situation at home, I worked at what was supposed to be a part time job pretty much full time, too much pressure, and I'm just plain not good at making pictures move. I was really questioning whether or not I was a good artist.

But after hearing all those astonished gasps when people walk by the store, the "whoa!"s, people talking about them, kids laughing in excitement, and having people actually come up to me and tell me how much they like them; I feel like I can do this. I think I've got my confidence back.

I'm not sure what my prize is, but I can be an artist.
